Ball Girl #046:What’s the ultimate way to show a man you love him?

Name your small dog after him

And that’s exactly what I plan on doing with Ranger’s stud goalie. Igor, meet……Igor

Want the scoop on sports but don’t feel like translating ‘bro’ language? You’ve come to the right place.

Can I have your number?

  • 339: Record for most fighting majors in the NHL, held by Tie Domi, who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets over a 16-year career (retired in 2006).

NBA

The Championships are underway and we got ourselves what I’m buying my Dad for Father’s day just like every other year….A TIE

  • Boston Celtics (1) vs. Golden State Warriors (1): Game 2 of this series went down in SF last night, and Golden State was under pressure to perform- for our male readership out there, I’m talking more performance pressure than the first time a girl lets you come up to her apartment for "a drink." As a reminder, they were/are the heavy favorites to win this series but Boston pulled a major upset in Game 1. Golden state said not today, satan, as they took over the second half. By they? I mean the splash TRIPLETS (Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole). Poole in particular set the tone with this insane 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter.

Semifinals getting ~spicy

EASTERN CONFERENCE FINAL: Tampa Bay Lightning (1) vs. NY Rangers (2)

  • The Lightning crawled back into this series yesterday like your ex in your DMs after you posted that thirst trap. They came back from a 2-0 deficit and scored a goal with 40 seconds left to secure game 3. This series is 2-1 to the Rangers so far but the Lightning are starting to look like the defending champs again.

WESTERN CONFERENCE FINAL: Colorado Avalanche (3) vs. Edmonton Oilers (0)

  • Avalanche dominated game 3 on Saturday and could be on their way to a 4-0 series sweep. This game was UGLY so of course there’s tea: Oilers defenseman Evander Kane was suspended for a game for a nasty check (read: hit) on Avalanche star center Nazem Kadri. Kadri broke this thumb and will be out for at least the rest of the series.

Don’t play around with the Mets’s Funky Cold Medina

  • The two best teams in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets split a 4-game series, which came to a thrilling end last night. Highlight of the game: Mets’ rookie pitcher Adonis Medina came through clutch with a gritty performance on the mound, retiring the top of the Dodgers’ lineup in the 10th inning to pick up his first Major League save.

  • This series was a true test of the Mets’s ability to hang with top dogs of the league, and they did not disappoint. After dropping the first two games against LA, the Mets came back with a 9-4 win on Saturday and a wild 5-4 win in extra innings last night.

Budding Bromance in Philly

  • The Philadelphia Phillies pulled out a crazy win to sweep the Los Angeles Angels last night. After Phillies’ Bryce Harper tied the game up with a grand slam in the 8th, rookie Bryson Stott, who also happens to be Harper’s childhood friend, hit a 3-run homer with 2 outs in the 9th inning to win the game.

  • Now we love a dynamic duo, but Harper and Stott are next level. Besides the fact that they look like brothers, Harper called Stott’s homer before it happened... Folks, I think we have a power couple in the making.

Billy Horschel coasts in to win 2022 Memorial Tournament

  • Billy Horschel stole the lead from Cameron Smith after a fantastic 7-under day in R3, managing to rise to 1st place with a 5-stroke lead. Even though he lowkey choked in the final round (as did everyone else, it seems - McIlroy shot 41, Smith: 42), finishing even for the day, it was too late for anyone to catch up…plus he eagled the 15th hole with a mega 52-foot putt. Aaron Wise was the closest to giving Horschel a run for his money, finishing 1-under for the day (-9 total). But even still, Billyboy maintained a 4-stroke lead to glide into his victory at Muirfield Village. Billy Horschel brings his 7th Tour victory and $2.16mil home…all the way from Dublin, Ohio!

On the horizon…

  • June 9-12: RBC Canadian Open - St. George's G&CC, Toronto, Ontario

  • June 9-11: LIV Golf Invitational London - Centurion Club, Hemel Hempstead, UK

  • June 16-19: U.S. Open - The Country Club, Brookline, Massachusetts

Nadal and Świątek: rightful claim to the Roland-Garros throne

  • Very happy days for Spain and Poland. Yesterday, Rafael Nadal (of Spain) and Iga Świątek (of Poland) won the 2022 French Open in total blowout final matches - Nadal defeated Casper Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, and Swiątek defeated Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-3. Not even close. Rafa and Iga were 5th and 1st seeds going into the tournament, and earned their way to the top.

  • In fact, Rafa had to literally break some ankles to get there. In the semi-final on Friday, Nadal won his match only due to Alexander Zverev twisting his ankle and ultimately being forced to forfeit the match. Here’s the footage (viewer discretion advised if you have a weak stomach). The match was otherwise very close until that point - 7-6 (Nadal), 6-6. Nonetheless, Nadal has claimed his 14th Roland Garros trophy.

Messi Cleans Up

  • Argentina absolutely dominated Estonia in a friendly match this weekend, with Lionel Messi scoring all five goals. This is the second time in his career that he’s scored 5 times in a single match. Argentina is flexing their muscles ahead of the World Cup this fall where Messi will look to carry Argentina to its first World Cup title since 1986.

Must Watches This Week

Monday, June 6th

  • 8:00pm ET, Colorado Avalanche vs. Edmonton Oilers, NHL: The Avs are on their way to a series sweep if the Oilers don’t magically acquire some game.

Tuesday, June 7th

  • 8:00pm ET, Tampa Bay Lightning vs. NY Rangers, NHL: If you’re an OG reader, you know we love an underdog… But its hard to root for the Rangers when the Lightning are starting to look like Miles Teller in Top Gun.

Time Out for the Tea

You're all caught up! See you Wednesday.
