Ball Girl #048: Perks of playing for the Boston Celtics?

No need for daycare

Apparently the Celtics just let their players bring their kids everywhere….to the locker room, and now postgame interviews?

Want the scoop on sports but don’t feel like translating ‘bro’ language? You’ve come to the right place.

Can I have your number?

  • 1994: The NY Rangers last Stanley Cup: This Saturday’s game is the Rangers’ only chance for redemption after a fat L to the TB Lightning last night, otherwise they’ll be tacking on another year to this 28 year drought.

NBA

Boston Celtics (2) vs. Golden State Warriors (1): Celtics officially take the lead in the NBA championships with a game 3 dub

  • And I’m starting to panic that they are going to win the whole dang thing- I mean honestly…..male Celtics fan? Instant ick. Okay but how did I (and the Warriors) get put in this position? Boston just out hustled and out muscled the Warriors on every play, but particularly in the 4th quarter, outscoring them 23-11. Key plays to note were 1) Draymond Green borderline tackling Jayson Tatum (babes, this isn’t football) 2) Al Horford falling onto Steph curry and crushing his ankle (DW Curry Cakes seems to be okay) and 3) Al Horford basically making a full court pass.

Someone call Bill Belichick- the Celtics have a QB on their hands

NHL

Rangers fumble the bag

Just the eastern conference left here before the Stanley Cup Final, and the Avalanche are sitting pretty, waiting to see who they’ll face — the Rangers or the Lightning.

Eastern Conference Final: Tampa Bay Lightning (3) vs. NY Rangers (2)

  • the Lightning went up 3-2 in the series last night after a big game 5 win. The game was tied 1-1 for the entire game… with 5 minutes left, the Rangers missed an easy goal, then Lightning forward Ondrej Palat put away a long distance shot to take the lead. The Rangers pulled their goalie in an attempt to even things up at the end, but they gave the puck away and the Lightning put in an easy one to end it. New York, this is why we can’t have nice things…

MLB

NY is just too hot for Minnesota

  • In the first 3 at bats of the game, the Minnesota Twins hit 3 homers in a row, but the New York Yankees rallied to beat the Twins 10-7 in last night’s game.

  • Somehow, the Yanks came back to win after their ace pitcher, Gerrit Cole, allowed 5 of the first 16 Twins at the plate to homer…. Cole has never allowed more than 3 bombs in a game.

Angels break their 14-game losing streak

  • After firing manager Joe Maddon, the Los Angeles Angels finally broke their 14-game losing streak, beating the Boston Red Sox 5-2.

  • Angels’ pitcher, Shoehei Ohtani was throwing absolute GAS last night, carrying LA on his back. Ohtani also homered in the 5th inning… gotta love pitchers who rake.

Golf

Breaking news: PGA Tour has suspended all LIV Golf traitors

  • PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan has been teasing the idea for a while, but finally pulled the trigger yesterday. “Suspensions and ineligibility from all PGA Tour, Korn Ferry, PGA Tour Champions, Canada, and Latinoamerica events including the Presidents and FedEx Cup. Players will also not be permitted to play as non-members via sponsors exemptions either.” Unclear whether they will be able to eventually return…

RBC (aka PGA) vs. LIV

  • RBC:We’ll keep the PGA on top for now… after R1 of the RBC Canadian Open, Wyndham Clark sits in first 7-under for the day. Rory McIlroy is T5 (-4), Sam Burns is T9 (-3), Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas are T25 (-1), and the rest trail behind. Our PGA boys are competing for a first place prize of $1.57 million, which is only HALF of what the LIV first place winner will make.

  • LIV:Aaaannnnd the race to $4 million is underway! After R1 of the first 18 of the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational, Charles Schwartzel holds a 1 stroke lead at -5 for the day, ahead of Hennie Du Plessis. And if you have no idea who those two are, check below (Schwartzel top, Du Plessis bottom). Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson are slacking, T7.

F1

This weekend is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix: no idea where that is? We gotcha queens. And who said sports couldn’t be educational!?

  • The Course: this is a street course aka, it’s basically set in the city (very grand theft auto vibes) with long straights. This will favor Red Bull who has the fastest car

  • The Top Drivers: story of the year is a battle between Red Bull in Ferrari. In the past 4 races, Ferrari has started pole (AKA 1st on the grid) but Red Bull has FINISHED first

  • The Tea: all eyes are also on Sergio Perez who was filmed doing some not so good-boy activities following the Monaco Grand Prix…he claims he didn’t cheat but ladies, if your man behaved like this when you weren’t around, you better dump his ass (or your best friends might kill him for you)

Must Watch This Week

Friday, June 10:

  • 10:00am ET, Azerbaijan Grand Prix Qualifiers: always important but this course does allow for passing so not the end all be all

Saturday, June 11:

  • 8:00pm ET, Tampa Bay Lightning vs. NY Rangers, NHL: If the Lightning win, they go to the Stanley cup final for the third year in a row. If the Rangers win, they keep the series alive (and NYC’s hopes of having a sport to cheer for).

Sunday, June 12:

  • 7:00am ET, Azerbaijan Grand Prix: It’s lights out and away we go!!!!

    Time Out for the Tea

    Shakira, Shakira!

    • After 12 years and two sons together, Shakira and Gerard Piqué (Spanish footballer) have announced their separation. Shakira found out about Piqué’s alleged infidelity, and he has since been staying alone at his own apartment in Spain. Sad news from this hot couple.

    Curls for the girls

    • We all love a bicep day but, someone needs to drug test this mans…D’Andre Swift (running back for the Detroit Lions) is looking questionably jacked.
