Detroit Pistons are bringing back their teal

The Detroit Pistons will adorn a retro teal uniform for 10 games this season. They wore these from 1996-2001 on the road and let’s be real, they are awesome. They ALSO look identical to LeBron’s uniform in the most recent Space Jam movie, which, in all fairness, came out just last year. SO someone’s clearly copying, and I’m pointing the finger at LeBron and Warner Brothers.

1: Number of F1 teams from 1950 that still exist. Of the teams that raced that year, including ERA, Maserati, and Talbot, only one exists today: Ferrari. Not even Mercedes was on the grid in 1950.

🏁 Charles Leclerc lost the French Grand Prix, and now he’s losing the F1 community’s support. After he DNFed this past weekend, articles, tweets, and blogs rained down about how his teammate Carlos Sainz is better, how Leclerc has no attention span for a full race, etc. This is proof that my skin is NOT thick enough to be a pro-athlete of any sorts.

🏀 The Boston Celtics submitted a trade deal to acquire Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant. Who did they offer up as a sacrifice? None other than Jaelyn Brown. Sorry Brown, that’s gotta hurt. Fortunately for Brown, the Nets rejected the offer so he will be staying in Boston….for now 🙃

🎓🏉 Tennessee’s former head coach Jeremy Pruitt is being slapped with a $60,000 fine for various violations during his tenure. What violations you ask? Oh, just bribing players. College football’s starting to look more corrupt than wall street.

Mets are the better Subway Surfer

• This classic NYC team face-off is lovingly called the ‘Subway Series’, because to get to both of these teams’ games, you gotta take — you guessed it — the subway. The Mets lead the NL East and the Yankees the AL East, so folks are hoping this series might be a World Series rehearsal. The sold out game last night certainly lent it that atmosphere, too.

• The Mets have superstar Pete Alonso, who was in the home run derby, and the Yanks have Aaron Judge. Judge hit his major league-high 38th home run in last night’s game, but it wasn’t enough for a W. The Mets walked away with a 6-3 victory after a night of Yankee errors.

Rays and Orioles battle it out in the AL East

• The Tampa Bay Rays are one of those teams that are somehow pretty good every year, despite having basically zero budget (the secret? they’re excellent at scouting & player development).

• On the other hand, the Baltimore Orioles are not one of those teams. They’re in a tough division (try facing the Yankees, Rays and Blue Jays every other week) which makes life hard. But this year, they’ve somehow found themselves on the brink of the playoffs. And we love an underdog.

• In the first two games of this series on Monday and Tuesday night, we saw a talented Orioles’ offense backed up by stellar pitching, including All-Star reliever Jorge López who came in the 9th inning last night to get the save. If the Orioles continue playing like this, they might take the series, and that would be a huge ego boost…

PGA up next: Rocket Mortgage Classic

• The 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic is on the PGA docket for the weekend, taking place in Michigan at Detroit Golf Club. Players will compete for a piece of a $8.4mm purse, with first place winning $1.51mm.

• The field is stacked and betting odds have Patrick Cantlay (1), Tony Finau (2), Will Zalatoris (3), Cameron Young (4), and Max Homa (5) as the top 5. Tony Finau will look to go back-to-back after winning last weekend. We also have our eyes peeled for Jason Day, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Champ who are looking to sneak into the top 125 (and into the post-season).

LIV up next: Bedminster

• The LIV Golf Invitational Series continues this weekend at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The field features the Koepka Brothers, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Bryson Dechambeu, and Dustin Johnson, as well as 42 others, divided into 12 teams.

• Yes, you heard that right. And if your brain is twisted, you’re right there with the rest of us. Johnny Manziel, an American indoor football quarterback, married Bre Tiesi (31 y/o model) in 2018 but broke it off a year later. Shortly after, Tiesi started dating Nick Cannon (41 y/o American TV host) and announced in November 2021 that she was pregnant with Cannon's 8th child (from 5 different baby mamas). Let’s just hope Cannon has matured a bit since he said (while chuckling), “I’ve failed miserably so many times at monogamy and relationships” last month…
