Ball Girl #073: Need a weekend celebration dance?

Madden 23's got you

Madden - you know? That game that is the primary reason you never see your boyfriend?- well, they just released their newest version of the game. And guess what victory dance is featured in it....none other than "the griddy." No idea what I'm talking about? It's the dance that kinda looks like grown men imitating a peacock.

Can I have your number?

29: Record number of consecutive losses in a regular NFL season. Congrats to the Chicago Cardinals (before moving to Arizona in 1994) who hold this streak. Number based fact here

🏀 All eyes are on Brooklyn Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant- who rocked the NBA by requesting a trade only 1 year into his 4 year contract. Well, looks like KD could reunite with ex-teammate James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers. The two were recently spotted canoodling (JK- just bros hanging out) at a Travis Scott concert together then again in Barcelona earlier this week!

    MLB

Cubs win the Field of Dreams game

    • What is this game and why does it matter? It doesn’t, except for it’s based off of your old white uncle’s favorite baseball movie: Field of Dreams. Every year, it’s played at a ballpark in Iowa named and modeled after the legendary park from the movie, complete with the wall of corn flush up to the outfield.

    • The Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2. The Cubs’ bullpen decided to shove in this game — Drew Smiley threw 5 innings and struck out 9 guys, Brandon Hughes struck out 3 in 2 innings, and Rowan Wick got the Cubs the save in the 9th.

    Tigers say adios to Al

    • After 7 years as the general manager, Al Avila was let go by the Detroit Tigers. Firing a GM halfway through the season is a little extreme, but the Tigers’ organization has been managed poorly for YEARS, mostly due to bad trading and player development choices.

    • Dana Brown (Atlanta Braves’ VP of Scouting) and Pete Putila (Houston Astros’ assistant GM) are two top contenders to fill the spot.

    NFL

Aaron Rodgers tripping into this season

    • …Yes, that kind of tripping. The reigning NFL MVP (for two years in a row!) opened up in an interview with Aubrey Marcus about his use of ayahuasca, a plant-based psychedelic native to Peru. Indigenous people consider it a ceremonial spiritual medicine because it produces an alternate state of consciousness.

    • Rodgers said that he’s been working on himself lately (alright self aware king) with the goal of learning to love himself unconditionally, and ayahuasca has been just one part of his journey.

    • He won’t be penalized by the NFL for his recreational drug use, which is the best joke we’ve written so far today (considering the NFL’s track record with punishing weed (& other things…)

    Golf

FedEx St. Jude is underway in Memphis, TN!

    • After the first round at FedEx St. Jude, Kim Si-woo and J.J. Spaun are T1 at 8-under. But Si-Woo is who everyone is talking about. Yesterday, the 27 year-old South Korean carded the lowest nine-hole score of his career on holes 10-18. Highlight? He holed out on #18 for an eagle.
