Ball Girl #115: Happy Thursday, you underachievers
Compared to Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic casually dropped 41 points against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. This marks his 20th 40-point+ game in his NBA career. But it doesn’t stop there — Doncic has officially tied Dirk Nowitzki for the second-most 40-point games in Mav’s history. For reference? Nowitzki played 21 seasons and retired at 41 years old. Luka is 23. TWENTY-FRIGGIN-THREE (but low key he looks 40). Let that sink in, and may you head into the weekend knowing that there’s this man-child who has accomplished so much more than you.

Can I have your number?
2: Number of continents that have succeeded as champions of the FIFA World Cup. Those two are Europe and South America. In fact, of the 20 past World Cups, European countries have been finalists in 18 of them. High hopes for North America this year, though!🇺🇸
TLDRs
🎓🏈 I’m mildly disturbed because the regular season of college football is already over, folks. That means it’s about to get hella cold and hella depressing. But that’s a January problem. Until then, we have our college football championship games this weekend with a final chance for chaos to rain down before bowl games are announced and the four playoff teams are selected. Now, there’s a ton of matchups this weekend but IMO, here are the games that are required reading 1) Pac-12 Championship with #11 Utah vs. #4 USC (Utah beat them in the regular season but a win for USC puts them in serious playoff contention) and 2) Big 12 Championship with #10 Kansas State vs. #3 TCU (TCU is STILL undefeated, but put fans into cardiac arrest last time they played Kansas as they trailed 28-10).
🏒 Defensemen Kris Letang (Pittsburgh Penguins) is out indefinitely having suffered a stroke… and here I was thinking all hockey players had to worry about were concussions?! Well, turns out Letang has a small hole in his heart. In fact, this isn’t even his first stroke. He suffered his first one back in 2014. Letang seems to be okay, giving press statements and attending games (albeit on the sidelines). But hot take — TBD if he will return given that he is 35 years old. This might be a sign that it’s time to hang up the skates and accept the stay at home dad life (he has what could be the most picture perfect family to ever exist. Like literally, what children look like this).

🏀 We had another freakshow week of games with players sinking shots like a bachelorette group in Vegas. I’m talking Giannis (Milwaukee Bucks) with 37 points. Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets) with 39 Points. Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) with 49 points. and Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns/ Kendall Jenner’s beau) with 51 points. This all happened last night y’all. Hump Day became Jump Day. Oh, and Princess Kate and Prince William were sitting courtside at the Celtics game. Do Brits willingly choose to vacation in America?
⛳The Hero World Challenge kicks off today, featuring only 20 of the world’s top players including Spieth, Scheffler, Schauffele, Morikawa, Hovland, Rahm, Thomas, Homa, Young, and more. The tournament is hosted by Tiger Woods at Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas to raise money for a number of youth-focused charities.
⚽ Player to keep your eye on
Christian Pulisic, USA Mens soccer
Why? The rock star, phenom USA midfielder from Hershey, PA came up BIG for the USA in the World Cup on Tuesday — he scored their only goal to get them a win against Iran, and essentially a ticket to the next round.
The twist? In order to score, Pulisic had to put his body on the line and collided with Iran’s goalkeeper. As you can see below, he quite literally sacrificed his you-know-whats for his country. Medical staff are calling it a pelvic contusion… All we can say is, ouch.

🏈 Matchups to watch out for
👀 There are some crazy matchups happening this weekend in the NFL… here’s the breakdown of two of them and why you should watch:
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots
So the Bills are like curtain bangs. Hear me out. Everyone LOVED them, everyone was on the bandwagon last year. But this year…. Not so much. They’ve been struggling. The Patriots, on the other hand, are like your classic pair of Uggs. They were BIG back in the day, but the past couple of years, if you wore Uggs in public, you’d be major cheug… But they’re slowly coming back into style this year.
So this matchup is going to be interesting. The Patriots have a shot to solidify themselves as an actual competitor in this year’s hunt for the Super Bowl, and the Bills have a shot to not completely fall off the map!
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tennessee Titans
This game is going to look more like a boxing match than a football game. Both of these teams are gritty and physical and will NOT shy away from a confrontation (unlike yours truly), so expect big hits and lots of action.
The Eagles have a reputation to uphold, and the Titans are the perfect team to wreck it…. so yeah, this is a must watch.

Tom & Gisele keeping the peace
For the first time since their divorce, Tom Brady and Gisele Bünchen interacted on social media. Tom posted a photo of his son Jack (not Gisele’s son, for clarification), and Gisele commented “❤️”

Am I the only one who didn’t know that Camille Kostek and Gronk have been dating for NINE years?
Well Camille just filled us all in, posting a throwback of she and Gronk, giving us the deets on how she got his number.
